Solar power · offline knowledge · local Wi-Fi
Kuwala
Knowledge worth sharing. Powered by the sun.
Kuwala is a portable solar-powered station we’re developing. Oasis brings its library, lessons and chat together.
Oasis is working in our lab. We’re preparing the first complete station.
Explore guides in Oasis Knowledge, learn with Oasis Study or follow a question through chat. The completed station will share access over local Wi-Fi. Each station will include at least one recycled device to share.
01 / Shared access
A place to learn, plan and find out more.
Think through a shelter design. Explore how to protect soil and keep rainwater on your land. Prepare a lesson, learn a trade or follow a question simply because it interests you.
Kuwala gives people a shared starting point. A local team can choose the guides, books and manuals that matter to them, and build a collection around their community.

01 / KNOWLEDGE
Read, ask and explore.
Browse the libraries, ask about a guide and open the original pages. Compare what you find with local knowledge and experience.
-
02 / POWER
Keep useful devices ready.
The station will store solar power, with six USB ports for compatible phones, tablets and power banks, and two switched 12-volt outlets for suitable equipment.
-
03 / CONNECTION
Share access over Wi-Fi.
The completed station will connect the shared device and nearby compatible devices over local Wi-Fi. Its local libraries will work without internet; an optional satellite-based or wired connection will add online access.
02 / Learn with Oasis
Watch a lesson.
Try it for yourself.
An explanation you can pause. A question you can try. A place to pick up where you left off.
We’re testing Khan Academy lessons in Oasis Study, using Kolibri’s lesson viewer. Captioned videos, interactive exercises and saved progress give people another way to learn.
A wider English lesson selection is now installed in our lab, spanning maths, science, history, reading and practical skills. We’re testing it and shaping themed packs.
Explore learning with Oasis
03 / Read and ask
A library to explore.
A question to follow.
Oasis helps you explore the PDF libraries in Oasis Knowledge. The local team can add documents and organise the collection around what people want to learn and do.
Ask in your own words, follow a suggested question or read further. You can also translate an answer or readable PDF-page text. The original stays available to compare.
Answers link to their source pages. AI and translation can make mistakes, so checking the original is part of using Oasis.
Private lab preview
Try Oasis on Kuwala.
Open the Oasis web app and connect to Kuwala in our lab. When the station is online, browse Oasis Knowledge, ask a question and open the documents behind an answer.
The web app and books you’ve saved on your device stay available when the station is off. Chat, search, translation and new downloads need a connection to the station.
The remote lab preview needs approved email access and an internet connection. To request access, email [email protected]. Local Wi-Fi access is planned for the completed station and still needs setup and testing.
Get Oasis for Android for the lab preview on your phone. The download also needs approved access.
04 / Testing and progress
A working platform. The complete station next.
Lab testing is making encouraging progress. The libraries, search, chat and source links are running locally, and we’re refining answer quality and translation.
Oasis Library now has a working curator workspace for preparing PDF packs and course selections. Alongside it, we’re testing lessons on the station and preparing a wider range of subjects.
Next comes testing the complete Kuwala station: power, charging, Wi-Fi reach and everyday use. A local trial will help shape the collection and show what people need from it.
Follow the progress.
